The Bible tells us Jesus Christ is the same today, yesterday, and tomorrow. What a promise, knowing He still saves, protects, empowers, and heals. We can count on Him for all things, knowing with certainty that He always hears, listens, and answers us.
Eternal Perspectives by Sally Bair
God wants you healed
During the COVID pandemic, I felt compelled to write a book about God’s desire to heal us. I had been healed years ago from a lifestyle that nearly caused me to abandon my faith in Him. I believe that if God could bring healing to me, He could do the same for others. And through the years, I have witnessed and read about many other healings. Some dramatically healed physically, others emotionally, and all spiritually.
My studies taught me that healing comes in many ways, forms, and time spans. Most importantly, I’ve learned that God loves us and wants all of us to be healed. According to Scripture, the ultimate healing is salvation from our sins through Jesus’ death on the cross and His resurrection. Countless people have found physical, emotional, and mental healing when turning their lives to Him.
The key to asking for healing is to believe God can heal. John 14:14 quotes Jesus: “If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” The psalmist writes: “O Lord my God, I cried out to You and You healed me.” (Psalm 30:2)
Some people think they are unworthy of such a gift. Others place their total trust in medicine. Still others find it difficult to trust God because they can’t see Him. Yet He uses various methods to bring healing. Healing can come miraculously or immediately, but also through prayer, medicine, therapy or other ways. Another proven method is through close reading, meditating, and studying God’s Word. Yes, the Bible is filled with true knowledge, inspiration and life-changing lessons that can cause anyone to be healed. From my book, I offer a few suggestions and Scripture.
Know your healer. “Your right hand, O Lord, has become glorious in power …” (Exodus 15:6)
Be thankful. “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases …” (Psalm 103:2-3)
Never give up. “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary.” (Isaiah 40:28)
Be joyful. “A merry heart does good, like medicine …” (Proverbs 17:22) “Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4) “Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)
Other advice I offer in my book includes the need to Look Up, not Back; Be Not Afraid; Be Quiet and Wait; and Keep your Healing. Thirty-one subjects are included, each with numerous Bible verses to encourage the reader.
Lord, thank You for wanting all of us to be healed. Cause us to look to You, through Your Word, through prayer and through Your Spirit for healing. Strengthen our faith and give us patience and joy throughout our trials or the trials of our loved ones. In Jesus’ name, amen.
