“Mayday! Mayday!” The skipper shouts. “We’re on our side. Waves sixteen feet every two seconds.” The crew of five struggles to survive as a late November storm threatens to capsize their boat. And it does. I wrote this fictionalized book about my son’s harrowing adventure of survival and rescue from the U.S. Coast Guard. Your heart will pound and you’ll be amazed at the miracles God provided. You’ll learn all about crab fishing on the Bering Sea and about life on a tight-fitting fishing vessel. I wrote it for kids age 8 and up, but adults love it, especially men. This is the first of a three-book story.

(Pamela P. says: Your book is so vivid that while reading it in the car, I actually
felt seasick! I had never experienced motion sickness before.)

(R. Olivo, journalist, wrote: Sally is a storyteller by inclination and brings a keen
observational eye to both the nuts and bolts of crab fishing near the Arctic Circle. Williwaw Winds is a sea story worthy of Jack London but there is much more here than a yarn of misadventure. The williwaw is a metaphor for the ill winds that affect peoples’ lives, challenging them to succeed and grow or fail and sink, like a doomed boat tossed by the tempest. There is a depth of spirituality in her writing that isn’t heavy-handed or preachy, but serves as a reminder of the grace of God in extremis.)
